Samsung NX200 Review

Introduction
The Samsung NX200 features a whopping 20.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and interchangeable lens. Wrapped in a sleek metal body, the exterior looks classy and distinguish itself from other mirrorless cameras.

Built & Handling
When I was handed the NX200, the first thing that struck me was its excellent ergonomics. The grip fits very well into your hands, making it very comfortable to hold, with buttons well-positioned across the back of the body.

Display
The display on the Active Matrix Organic LED screen is crystal clear and the graphical interface is very impressive. Most importantly, the animations are quick enough that they don’t get in the way.

Image quality
The massive level of detail and low noise levels mean that the NX200 delivers superb image quality. Coupled with the 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 i-Function lens, you can be assured of getting quality images with every shot.

    f/8, 1/250s, ISO 200

    f/8, 1/250s, ISO 200

Colour & Contrast
The natural tone curve and accurate colours can be very useful when you want the image as a whole to sink in. The colours and contrast can be easily tweaked by using a custom setting of the Picture Wizard.
    f/5.6, 1/400s, ISO 200

    f/8, 1/250s, ISO 200

    f/5.6, 1/200s, ISO 200

Noise Control
The NX200’s noise levels are extremely well controlled. Images are relatively noise-free at ISO 1600. Even at ISO 3200, the images are still highly usable. Only at ISO 6400 that you start to see visible noise and lose detail in the edges.

Lens Review
30mm f/2.0
I was also given the 30mm f/2.0 for reviewing. The large aperture of this lens is very useful in low-light situations, making handheld photography possible. The beautiful bokeh is another attraction of this lens, isolating the subject from the background, which is especially useful in portraiture photography.

All images shot at f/2.0, ISO 200

i-Function lenses
i-Function lenses allow you to make certain adjustments, such as aperture, shutter speed and creative filters and so on, directly from the lens. The line-up includes the 20mm f/2.8, 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 OIS II, 20-50 f/3.5-5.6 ED and 50-200 f/4-5.6 ED OIS II.

Conclusion
The NX200 delivers DSLR quality images in a compact and user friendly camera body. With a head-turning 20.3 megapixels and an abundant of features, it will appeal to both photography enthusiasts and professionals who are looking for a smaller yet competent camera.
